Sydney Bridge Climb

One of the most famous landmarks in Australia and certainly in Sydney. It’s the site we watch at New Year and today we climbed it.

Taken from the ascent up the right hand side of the bridge focusing on the steel path to Australian flags flying at the pinnacle.
The walkway up to the top.

First we had to don the fetching boiler suit and use a myriad of fasteners to attach anything loose to our person: glasses, headsets, hankies and hats. We had a safety briefing and were set to go. Our route saw us climbing the steel steps on the East side of the bridge looking across to the magnificent site of the Opera House. At the summit we crossed to the west side to descend back down towards the city as the sunset and the city sparkled with artificial lighting.

Camera equipment was not permitted on the climb for obvious reasons and so we purchased a photograph pack.

After the climb we needed food. This is where we found a great restaurant sandwiched between the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, My steak was incredible. The restaurant had ship’s rigging and is to the left in this panoramic photo.
