On our way closer to Glasgow, we ventured up through the hills and alongside lochs to visit the Greenock Cut. We then parked up in Paisley in search of the ‘Paisley Pattern’
Largs
A small coastal town looking across the Firth of Clyde to Great Cumbrae Island and the Isle of Bute
Whitelee Windfarm
20 minutes from Glasgow.
New Lanark
A UNESCO World Heritage Site on the bank of the River Clyde.
Dumfries House
Confusingly not in Dumfries.
Woodroad Park
A wild parkup in town on the way to Dumfries house. Probably not where King Charles stayed whilst visiting Dumfries House recently.
Culzean Castle
One of the best National Trust (for Scotland) properties that I think we’ve visited. Passed down through generations of the Kennedy family, renovated and extended over the decades.
The Ranch
Our first campsite with a pool and we had a bonus movie night amongst the parkruns, many playtimes and laundry.
Week 10
Dumfries and Galloway: the three smaller counties and Galloway Forest.
Prestwick Oval Junior parkrun
Parkruns are a little more sparse around Scotland but so far we have been able to get to one in each County. This one was just North or Ayr.
Girvan Prom parkrun
We rocked up at the Scottish time of 09:30 for parkrun.

Knockcushan Beach Carpark was to be our park-up but plans changed.
Galloway Forest
The largest Forest Park in Britain at over 300 square miles and the UK’s first Dark Sky Park.
