Defining Borders
We started out with a list of historic counties. As we travelled we realised that things were a little more complicated and we began considering county councils and overlapping borders.
Please bare with us if you think we mislabelled a location. Sometimes we have gone with counties where we could locate a flag and other times we labelled the smaller areas (mostly to up our count).
In Dumfries and Galloway (which seems to be the modern label and county council) we couldn’t find a flag but could for the three sub counties of Dumfriesshire, The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright or Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire. You’ll find these blogs posted under the 3 counties as they are also highlighted on the map.
