Our tent in the African Wilderness

Today we left Samburu lodge after Breakfast and headed back across the equator. Sorry I can't be bothered to check which way the water drains right now. We arrived here at the Sweetwaters tented camp about midday and believe me when I say that the tents are like no tent I ever camped in as a child. For starters, it was already assembled when we arrived, it is canvass but erected on a platform with a thatched roof. There is a hot shower, the Tilly lamps use energy saving light bulbs, we have a toilet that flushes and mains sockets to charge our camera/ phone. It is still lovely and romantic.

We are pleased to see that there are hot water bottles again tonight as it gets quite cold near the mountain.

This afternoon we went on a game drive with Isaac including a visit to the Chimp sanctuary and a tame, black Rhino called Baraka. There are no Chimps in the wild in Kenya but the rescue centre homes chimps transferred from war torn areas like Burundi.
